Fishable but tough conditions with water well up, coloured and flowing fast with a lot of debris. Covered the beat with pellet/feeder tactics with just the one bite in the top swim and one lovely 6lb barbel.

No fishing today, Totally unfishable, wash off, banks underwater totally and no access to swims due to flooding. The nature of the beast which is the Wye. Awesome river

River rose quickly throughout the day and the stretch became unfishable by 5pm due to the swims themselves being several feet under! Most fish came from the Old Wharf with the rest from the Wyebank Pool. Pellet wrapped in paste caught but suspended weed made it a nightmare. A switch to rolling meat resulted in most fish including a chub of 5lb 1oz and the largest barbel of 8lb 14oz. Every fish was a workout in the strong flow but all were well rested and shot off strongly.

The weather was atrocious and the banks treacherous so decided not to fish for safety reasons.

Had a very busy day, 2 of us fishing the pool at the end of this short, shallow and fast flowing beat. Around 40 Barbel to around 5 pound. I have never seen so many small, but beautiful condition fish. We also had 2 small chub and plenty of dace, some really big ones of 10 oz or more. We struggled with pellet and meat, the fish came thick and fast on maggot feeders against the trees on the other side.

First time fishing this beat. Only 3 real pegs with the current low water conditions. Caught throughout the day on feeder and pellet. Ended up with 24 barbel between us but mostly small, in fact i’ve never caught barbel this small before!

Wyebank is quite clearly a boot camp for Wye Barbel juniors...for whatever reason they flourish in large numbers here and there are a few seniors in the mix too. No doubt most who have fished here and hooked into one of these pocket rockets have been surprised at the small size of the fish which in terms of fight scrap way above their modest weight!! We caught quite a few and may have bagged more but one rod spent what seemed about half a day trying to land a 6 pounder on float gear....On a less upbeat note though we caught hardly any small chub or dace which is very surprising for here....perhaps the Barblets have muscled them out...
