After being battered by wind on the Creel on the previous day it was a pleasure to arrive at Wyebank in calmer conditions with the river looking quite good.
It was slow going but the odd tentative bite was keeping us interested and we caught a couple of Barbel and Chub as the river started to rise.
Unfortunately the river kept rising...rapidly...We can put up with weed and debris but once whole trees are coming down.. the only boat traffic is ducks perched on floating logs...and your swim is knee deep in water you are kind of happy to pack up and go home..!!
Another interesting day on the Wye and all part of the magic...

Very wet and windy but persevered. I lost the first two barbel to cut offs, then managed to bank two barbel. Which has made my day after having a wash off the last time I was here. Hard work but well worth it. I packed up at 4pm due to the amount of weed coming through.

We arrived at dawn. The river was up, coloured and bombing through. 1 small barbel caught 1st cast, then nothing again until late afternoon when the fish switched on. 8 barbel caught in total, the best being a new pb of 10lb 2oz for my brother. A great fish in mint condition! All fish caught on feeder and pellet. Lots of snags to avoid. The canoe traffic was fairly heavy, but caused no problem at all. Lovely stretch of river, we will definitely be back in the summer.

Parking no problem, Only two of the three anglers fished, illness. This is quite a small section with not many swims. Barbel caught with conventional feeder and hair rigged pellets, nothing clever. The Barbel on this section appear to be quite a small stamp of fish 4 to 5 LB

I managed to fish for one hour, but due to the rising water level impossible to hold bottom even with a 5oz feeder. Accepted defeat and just admired the river. Another day and better conditions. I wold have fared better.
