Difficult conditions. A very high and pacy river with not much slacker water to go at on this stretch. Lots of leaves and sticks coming down after the recent storm, constantly catching the line.
Just one bite out of the blue mid afternoon resulting in a 7.8 barbel.
An angler fishing from the opposite bank, where a fallen tree had caused a large slack, caught several fish throughout the day.

An absolutely fantastic days fishing in the meadow. The rain arrived at 6am and continued until past 3pm meaning the river was in beautiful condition for the evening. Fish came here and there throughout the day until about 6pm when they really got their noses down and we had 7 in a 90 minute spell. All fish fell to the usual pellets in an open end feeder with pellet on the hook. One eel slipped the hook on spam. All the fish fought hard and were well rested before release. The best two went just over 9lb.
The only downside of the day was seeing a lovely 8lb+ barbel float downstream belly up, sadly out of range of being helped. Whether it was natural or poor fish care further upstream I don't know but if you're not willing to spend plenty of time nursing your catch until fully recovered then barbel fishing isn't for you.

River very low and weather very hot by 10.00 am. One eel caught on meat. Nothing else but was still a very pleasant day in wonderful surroundings.

Hard going: low, warm water. Nice beat but tricky access in places and the road noise isn't the best.

Really hard going in the heat and with low water. Lovely barbel for Chris, some chub and an obligatory eel. Blank for me. Caught on lower beat.
