Fished late afternoon until 6.30pm when it got cold and I got a bit wet with the rain . Very little activity. One take on a klinkhammer and a couple of pulls on a mayfly nymph and they was all.

River around .9
Very clear
Conditions looked good - beautiful weather but with a bit of a nip from a N/NNE wind
Quite a lot of sun on the river as the day progressed and water level falling
No fish caught - no takes and no sightings
Had a great day though

River 0.9m dropping slowly and surprisingly clear. A lovely day albeit with cool downstream wind making Speycasting quite challenging at first. We all improved as it dropped and close season rust reduced. A very social gathering although we fished quite hard. No trout or salmon showed and there was a moderate hatch of Grannom in the middle of the day. No Olives or March Browns. There has been a shift in the river bed on Upper Rock as described by owner Barry. This has resulted in less trip hazards and made wading in this spot easier. Beat scenic as ever and plenty of pleasing flywater.

River was high and fast, attempted to cast in a couple of places, but just too dangerous so retired to the pub - nothing caught.

Very chilly start to the season with seven layers of clothing being worn at one point. A few trout rising to a good March Brown hatch in the middle of the day. A reasonable flow and safe wading. I opted to go after salmon which narrowed my chances considerably but still a good day although my feet think otherwise.
