River at 0.7m and coloured but falling. Fished Rock Pool from left bank and saw one fish running. Caught 2 trout. Benefit of hindsight suggests right bank is probably best throughout this beat. Stayed at Glanusk Farm approx 1 mile up river from Chainbridge which was excellent.

Fish moving but no takes. River a bit high. Btw - a comment I submitted a couple of weeks ago should be disregarded - it appears that I was fishing the wrong beat!

River was 0.7 and dropping, clear and looking lovely. A few salmon were jumping and I had a pull in the morning session but didn't connect. Fished hard throughout the day and was rewarded in the afternoon with a nice 8/9lb hen fish which fell to a copper tube gazcader on my 12'6 Sage Method with AFS scandi line from the upper rocks pool. Definitely worth all the hard work. This is a superb little fishery I will be back. Many thanks!

Arrived at 7.30 after early start. River 0.71 m lovely colour and falling slowly. Perfecto. Fished hard for 8 hrs saw only two salmon show all day and no takes. Very surprising. Last chance saloon next week !
Must redress the comments by saturday's angler from London. Essentially he fished the only difficult wading spot above the bridge (rarely attempted by regulars)
To clarify and help any visitors to our lovely beat the following notes may be of assistance -
The right bank is an easier wade (but favours left handed speycasters)
Upper Rock is all wadeable up to 0.7m level depths but plenty of trip hazards. Competence and wading stick required. The stakes on upper rock is like wise a bit deeper by the last two or three.
Rock pool from the upper plat form is largely easy gravel right down to below the fallen tree on the other bank.
Wood stream is best fished from the left bank . Depth is o.k. till deepens above the bridge. Some trip hazards so wading stick advised.
From the bridge down wadeable fairly even depths but again trip hazards. All manageable with care staying close to the bank. But too deep to wade pass the willow. Wadeable after this down to cables staying close in. Below the cables too deep.
Hope this helps some of our visitors. Subject to change with winter floods!

Salmon seen, but not caught. btw - I am not impressed by the beat notes provided (I had not fished at Chainbridge before). The notes describe the wading on most of the beat as relatively easy over the gravel riverbed. I found the wading at the top of the beat (Rock pool) to be slippery mud with large boulders - positively scary with today's fairly high water level (a foot and a couple of inches on the gauge at Usk). In the faster water lower down there is indeed some gravel in the gaps between the boulders, but not much. I fished only the left bank from the wood upstream.

Perfect conditions, around six salmon seen jumping, including one very large coloured cock salmon cart wheeling out of rock pool. Used spinner and flies of different shapes and sizes but not takers
