The river was very high and rising all day. 1 large chub came to a large chunk of meat the rest fell to maggots. Very picturesque beat, a pleasure to fish in the good weather. Thanks again WUF

The river was slightly coloured and at a normal level, managed to catch on pellet feeder tactics. Fished the upper swims but these were snaggy.

Tried fishing the deeper, slacker water for a few hours with a running leger alternating cheese paste and luncheon meat but without success. Mid afternoon I switched to the faster water and was rewarded with three nice chub, the largest running to 4lb.

We turned up early morning to find the river was still tanking through from the heavy rain earlier in the week. Our initial target species was pike but due to the conditions we opted to target the barbel instead. We walked the stretch initially and baited 6 swims with pellet and boilie with the plan to spend a couple hours in each spot. Bites came very quickly with all fish coming on boilie and pellet hook-baits fished right in the edge on feeder tactics.
One criticism of the stretch was the state of the pegs which in some cases resembled a muddy slide and were too dangerous to fish. This meant that we could only really target the top half of the reach safely. For the cost of the ticket this was pretty unacceptable.

Very cold when I first arrived -3 degrees everything was covered in frost so knew it would be slow, tried meat in all the usual spots but nothing returned to the car for a coffee and a warm. Started fishing again about 9.30am chub first cast worked the beat again and found the fish in a more cooperative mood.

River bang on falling and colour dropping out. Barbel first cast and fish coming constantly through the day. Rolling meat with a centre pin. Fantastic day. Thanks WUF

A glorious day by the river, but only the one barbel to show for our efforts. Lots of salmon on the move!

Very little flow on a low and clear river. The weather was overcast and very mild. All fish were taken from the bottom of the beat with legered pellet.
