Usual pellet method on a feeder from lunch until late evening seeking barbel. No show - we both blanked sadly. It was very hot. A very beautiful part of the river and unlike previous visitors we felt there were sufficient swims. A fisherman on the opposite bank caught 23 barbel (or so he said!) but in the morning from 9am until 12pm which, considering the heat was the better decision.

Nothing happened all morning and afternoon so B decided to make about 5 new swims! The water level was low and the sun scorching. In the evening the fishing picked up, all the fish were caught on halibuts with feeders. The fish seem to be under the banks and most fish were caught close in.

A tough day with a lot of canoe activity especially in the morning. Couldn't locate the fish until later in the afternoon when a few Barbel each, including one double, saved the day. Also caught a few nice Chub on the float although the elusive float caught Barbel eluded us. Swims, which had been obviously well prepared last season, were heavily overgrown in places.

Another great stretch. Very hot day. Great swims. 4 Barbel, best 7.5lbs.
Shame we didn't catch more. Rumours of late spawning it seems. Another week or so and I think things could have improved. River looking perfect, just a touch of colour.

Blanked! Didn't help that the majority of the stretch was overgrown. 20 pounds a day is a lot to pay when most of the river is unreachable. I think I may stick to the cheaper stretches where there are better swims cut in. Beautiful part of the river though.

WUF note - Often during the early part of the season, some beats will be overgrown and anglers should be prepared to possibly have to cut their own swims, but as the season progresses, more swims should become available.

1 barbel caught, 1 lost. Beautiful beat - completely agree with previous comments though - some slightly more accessible/prepared swims on the lower part of beat would be great.
