Lovely day. 3 on different dries, one on the duo at distance. Tricky wading in places, especially in the pocket water. But very interesting fishing

Fished 10-2.
Upon arrival saw a few rising fish above the bridge but after that all I saw were splashy rises here and there so mainly fished a nymph in the deeper runs (river looked very low and clear).
Had 6 trout including a larger one at 15" and an oos grayling about 3/4lb. The other trout were between 6-10". Lost quite a few others.
Only fished about 2/3 of the beat- the first 1/3 from the d/s limit at the bridge is mainly high banks and tree lined. Access is pretty poor there and there's quite a few barbed wire fences to negotiate.
The middle bit where it's double bank opens out and there's some nice water to fish there.

Only 7” on the gauge today but cool and overcast with slight drizzle. Wading was “interesting” as usual at this height with underfoot conditions more like an ice rink than a riverbed in some spots. I saw more rising fish today than for some time, but only managed to tempt 2 to the surface to take an olive emerger pattern during the occasional sparse medium olive hatches. The others came to the usual assortment of wets and nymphs throughout the beat. Biggest trout was only 9”, but 2 nice grayling to 14”.
