A very chilly and beautiful day to have this stretch all to myself. Very slippery banks made swim selection tricky. One 4lb chub mid afternoon, taken on multiple maggot gave a good account of itself and right at last light the rod tip rattled round, sadly not a Barbel but a 1lb Roach that had attacked a huge chunk of Spam!

One small Pike taken from the shallows towards the pumping station close in. Be wary of the banks on high water. They can be dangerous so watch your footing.

A very chilly day on one of my favourite stretches and a big fat blank for me but a few chub for the chap that I took along. We did see a few chub showing on dark but the barbel didn't play ball this time. I will be back next summer.

River well up and coloured, beautiful stretch of the river but fished hard. We will return soon to try again, very pleased to walk away with the only 2 fish caught.
Many thanks.

River about 1m up from previous day due to rain. Tried several swims with pellet and luncheon meat but had no bites. I can only assume drop in temperature + rain water had put fish off.

After a wet drive, it was a great afternoon in depths of Wye valley in autumn. Much better than work! 1 chub approx 3lb and a 4lb 6oz barbel on pellet from mid section.

Not much in the way of bites, just a couple each. One barbel about 5lbs and 2 chub up to 3 lbs. All fish caught on meat.

Conditions were a bit difficult. River had risen about a meter over night after the rain and was pushing through hard. Lots of debris coming down. Using feeder and pellet, managed to winkle out a barbel to around 7lb at dusk on the last cast.

River fining down trotted caster all day, chub of 4.08 and 2.12 plus dozens of smaller chub and some quality roach and dace. This is a lovely beat, we had the pleasure of being able to watch the shoot opposite in the afternoon.
