Absolutely stunning stretch of river with abundant fly life, with the odd mayfly on the water, and fish rising throughout the length. Took me a while to get the tactics right; the only fly I caught on was a size 18 CDC f fly. They ignored any bigger offerings, and did not seem interest in the mayfly that where hatching, prefering the numerous tiny black flies which were trickling down the stream. Caught 3 trout 6-8 inches and then a pristine 14inch trout to cap the day off. Lost another that was at least as big as well....always one that gets away.

Weather very wet - rained all day. Water level rather low. Fished from 2.30pm to 6pm. Only catch was a tiddler about twice the length of my gold head nymph which would have fitted easily in a jam jar. No trout seen and no trouty takes on any of my nymphs.
Combination of severely eroded banks and strong growth of shrubbery made it very difficult to walk along the stream on the water-side of the fencing. Several fallen trees impede access to some pools.
The flash appearance of a kingfisher brightened the day.

3 small trout taken on Hairs Ear nymph and several lost, river was clear and in good condition and quite a large number of fish moving. 1 brown of about 2lb seen in the last pool before the bridge. It was my first time fishing a small river and I thoroughly enjoyed myself with the bonus of catching some fish, albeit small ones.

Should have been fishing the Honddu W54(USK) but due to parking poblems ended up on the Llynfi Dulais W14. Lot's of missed takes a few small trout caught, (and I do mean small). Many thanks to the staff of the Booking office, they couldn't have been more helpful.

2 x trout 6-7 inches, Deer Hair Emerger. A tough session on a cool, windy morning with rain on the way, water low and clear. Very little hatching and no natural rises. I was rather hoping for may fly, which can make this stream very special, but none seen by the time I had to leave.

Trout were caught on size 12 dry flies and small nymphs. A lot of rain all day and temperatures like in April. At least no hail!

Cold water, cold wind, hail and rain - still it's only May after all! Nothing seen, never mind caught!

This is a great stretch of water. Each slow glide is followed by a fast run into a big deep pool on a right angle bend and then a fast riffle. It repeats all the way up the beat. There is a very steep hill down to the start of the beat so remember on your way back not to follow the river all the way and then climb vertical - instead leave the river bank and follow the more gentle incline towards the top of the hill and the parking spot. Water was a little coloured. Plenty of flylife on the water and very sporadic Mayfly but very few rising fish. Caught 3 fish 6"-9" on mayfly, Grey Wulf and size 20 black and silver nymph
