Trout seemed to appreciate the cooler conditions, the heavy rain in the afternoon did not put them off. Prospected with a small para adams and rose fish in most of the runs. Landed 15 and missed as many, though I think these were mainly small. Most fish 6 to 9", a couple might have made 4", but a couple went to 11", very feisty in the clear water. Lovely sunny evening rounded off the day beautifully.

Fished with a dry midge and took a brownie of 6in and 10in both returned. Very clear water.

Weather dull & overcast, no fly activity, water low & very clear. Caught 2 trout very small on nymphs no rises seen, fished for 2 hours then moved to Lower Longtown.

Lovely day clambering over rocks and you need a stick. Hardly any fish about or rising, but a lovely river.

Mild weather to start but with a cooler downstream breeze later.
Very little in the way of fly life about and consequently most of the fish were deep down, hiding in the stones. Managed to tempt a few fish from the lower half of the beat before the breeze picked up and made presentation difficult.
4 trout between 5 and 8 inches. 4 salmon parr.

Just fingerlings today but fun nonetheless on a lovely wild beat.

1 Trout

Two small trout returned, approx 15cm long caught on a hairs ear nymph.
There is a larch tree fallen recently across the stream near the bridge which makes passing difficult. I had to climb over the top, not easy in breathable waders. Estimate an hours work for two men and a chainsaw to clear it.

2 Trout

As I could not fish the evening I went looking for the faster water and runs in the hills. Trout everywhere, but only up to 7". Very encouraging for the future, but after using a very small para adams to catch 11 (and missing loads) I went up a few sizes to try and avoid the little ones. Still nothing over 7", although I did see a couple of larger ones beaten to the fly by greedy little ones. Also, the top third of the beat is now very shallow with very few pockets to fish, if you are thinking of going.

Water was running clear and strong and looking very healthy , turning over the stones revealed a good quantity and diversity of bugs .
Fished the pockets with a dry, no real fly coming off but lots of nibbles from tiddlers so presume salmon parr. Had 4 trout to hand, biggest 8 inches and fabulously marked!
Beautiful stream and location.

2 fish to hand, more lost. The fish are there but they are quick. Not an easy wade as others have reported.
