We were fishing the beat with droppers and euronymphing. Great weather and some minor hatches and rises.
Caught a couple of 40cm trouts with others being in the 20-25 cm size.
Beautiful beat and part of the river

The river was clear but still a tad high. Quite a few grannom around, a good localised March Brown hatch and a small number of LDOs. The fish were pretty fussy with no adult flies being taken, just emergers and they weren’t really on them. We ended the day with 6 fish between us, the best at around 2.5lbs. We lost a few fish too. A lovely beat and if the water was maybe 6 inches lower it would’ve been perfect. A very enjoyable day and lovely to see the resident otter come over to take a look at what we were doing.

Conditions : Mainly sunny but with a cool breeze.
River: Plenty of water in the river but fairy clear. Usual crossing spots difficult to wade across.
Fly: No visible fly hatches on the water.
Fishing: Difficult due to the flow of water and limited access points.
Fish: No rising fish or signs of moving fish.
Catch: Only one small grayling, caught on a gold head hare's ear nymph.
Other comments: Access across stiles very difficult and hazardous due to positions of barbed wire, lack of intermediate steps and poorly maintained, rickety woodwork. We could only conclude that the stiles were almost designed to prevent access to the fishing fields and wouldn't comply with any H&S checks. (comment by H&S professional). DW
