River was high but just fishable at last for a few hours before the Edw started coming in a grey and all rising once again! A few trout to the heavy line and tube. Many thanks all for arranging access.

River high and pushing through very fast which made wading almost impossible. Will try again once the river level drops.

The weather was perfect for once, but the water level was 18" up all day, so Dan Y Parc was a bit featureless, and no wading across. But I found a riffle near the right hand bank in or near the Six Oaks pool, where the trout were taking well-sunk nymphs. Caught two, including one of about 2½lbs which was very hard to bring to net in the heavy water. Hooked but lost 3 or 4 more. Plenty of flies in the air and on the water, but I didn't see a single rise from 10.30 to 3.30.

We arrived at the water when it was 1.5ft on the Brecon gauge but very coloured. There was a little bit of visibility in the margins but otherwise it looked grim. We decided to give it a go in the hope that it would clear through the day. There was a sparse hatch of LDOs but a couple of brilliant hatches of March Browns. No fish rose to the March Browns but one or two came up for the LDO emergers. Only one succumbed to our dry flies, the rest of our fish being taken on spiders and nymph. The water cleared somewhat by mid afternoon but it was still pretty coloured. An enjoyable day and we ended up with 7 more fish than we thought we would when we first saw the state of the water.

This is such a beautiful but seemingly barren section of river. No fly life, nor fish life seen or encountered. Zero fry, parr or minnows on the entire stretch pretty much sums up the sorry state of the Wye and the foreseeable future...
