An enjoyable session on the Bran. The stream was in good order, plenty of water in it and a nice tannin stain. Fish from 8 inches to 13 inches, mix of 'duo' and Euro Nymph.

A short late PM visit. Water level was high (perfect!) and the fish obliged, lots of 7 to 12 inch fish about, we only fished a very short section and every pool produced high numbers of fish. Nymphs fished on a Euro nymph set up, or under a dry fly 'NZ' style worked well.

Arrived just as 2 other anglers were leaving. They said it was pretty much unfishable.... Not sure what they were talking about as we both had a choice of swims and settled to go in a big double swim.
I landed 9 Barbel and 2 big eels while my dad had 3 Barbel and a Chub. Lots of weed still in the river and lots of debris coming down. Frightening to think what we would have caught in better conditions.
I think people forget this is the Wye and that it's Wild fishing.
We will definitely come here again.

A lovely afternoon shining on a great place to be in early autumn. River 0.96m and dropping slowly. As usual looked very fishy. New bank side steps down to Upper Rock made access easy and was able to wade right down to Rock / Chine with fly working beautifully. Had a take at the start of Rock and a mid teen fish showed immediately. It then dropped below me for a minute of head shaking before we parted company. Frustrating but a great afternoon.

An excellent stretch with reasonable vehicle access and pegs accessible with care (crampons were useful following a night of rain)
The river was carrying about 4ft of extra water and proved difficult to figure out for three experienced anglers, although we all caught in the end. We plan to return, hopefully when the river is at more normal levels.
