Plenty of insect life including early mayfly however only one fish seen rising for the entire stretch. Had one take on a parachute Adams but no others. Highlight of the day was spotting a roe deer crossing the river from the upper wooded section! Some ranunculus crowfoot spotted in the river which is encouraging.

Four caught in Alexander's, one about thirty metres from the very bottom of the beat and two on the top of the beat at abernant stream. Nothing big but all fish in good health and returned. Nice to catch one on a dry for at abernant stream. Best two in attached photo's.

Lovely afternoon / evening spent but nothing much to show for it. There were fish rising for a good part of the afternoon but could I get them to take my dry flies, no sir! Very frustrating so switched to nymph in the late afternoon and caught a couple of brownies (I about 10 inches, the other smaller).
Good to meet you too Jack, a couple of weeks back now.

Lovely day fishing dry flies in a wonderful setting. Two trout to the net but when a big one came along it threw the hook. Typical!
