Tough going today. River low and cloudy. First time fishing here in summer, a lovely private beat but feel it fishes much better in early spring/ autumn.

Lots of fly life but saw only one rising fish all day which I managed to tempt on an Adams dry. All other fish to nymphs.

The river level was up with water flowing over the croy on arrival, levels dropped during the session and the croy was dry by mid-afternoon. Water was very coloured and pushing through as you’d imagine. All fish were caught on a mixture of boilies and meat, the “other fish” was an eel. Largest barbel was 7lb 9oz and chub to 4lb 8oz. Another very enjoyable day on the Wye in a lovely quiet tranquil setting.

4 Barbel, 11 Chub, 1 Other
