A guided day for a very pleasant chap who was from Herefordshire ... plumbed for an old favourite as the gent wanted to be shown the ropes on a wild stream, and was totally new to the whole experience of the confines of the stream, reading the water, where the trout are likely to be positioned in the river etc etc etc .... he took it all on board very well to be fair........
The Arrow was as blissful as ever and good to see still sitting at a reasonable height considering we've has no rain fir quite some time now !!! Cooler today, when I parked up at nine by the Whittern bridge it was reading 10 degrees in my truck !!
Olives and mayfly really got going at about half twoish ... My client did present his dry fly offerings very well and was rewarded with a few plump feisty Arrow fish ..... those markings are incredible !! Stunning as always, fish today ranging from eight to eleven inches . As mentioned before by previous reports some very professional tree work has been done ..... can that same team do up at the Kington beat of the Arrow....... I can almost hear her saying ...... don't forget me !!!!!! Tis a cracking job that's been done and no brash or branches left behind at all .... good to see .... healthy for the stream I'd say as there are young ones left behind , they'll soon offer a canopy.... the opposite bank is still the same so its just about perfect now !!! Must admit didn't see too many risers , but the ones that did come up were fun for my client .... all in all a really pleasant few hours and a gent that's well and truly hooked ..... what could be better ! Off to The Ponderosa and a well earned bottle of Old Speckled Hen I think, cheers folks !!

7 trout caught on dry fly but many more takes missed. You need your wits about you as takes can come at any time and can be very close. The conditions were very bright with an upstream breeze. Wish I had put more Sun cream on. An amazing day. All fish were taken on a small march brown soft hackle.

Wonderful spot. Spent a couple of hours in the evening. Didn’t see a single fish. Possibly spent too long at the lower end of the beat and so ran out of time to explore the deeper pools at the top end. My first wild stream, but will be back.

Cooler windy day but some mayfly hatching made for a good afternoon. All fish really well conditioned and good Ave size for a little river. 1 to nymph when it was quiet the rest large dries cast to rising fish. All fish returned.

Two of us enjoyed a day euronumphing with our lightweight 10ft rods. A welcome change to fish a nice, open, accessible beat after previous battles with overgrown wild streams. My buddy, who a much more competent river fisherman, netted 6 but I managed to beat my previous personal best for a river trout with a fine fish of about 1lb. Not quite a match for the 1.5 - 2lb monster my friend caught but still something of a result.

Fished an evening ticket. Arrived at the end of a mayfly hatch, caught my first c. 14" trout on a Yellow Wulff. Then a bit of a lull, but worth waiting as then the spinners came out. That was great fishing for about 45 minutes - I caught two more nice fish of 17 and 16" on a Deerstalker, had another of similar size roll off near the net, and several other bites too. Lovely beat with really varied water. I disagree with the post below - there are quite a few swims which are easily accessible, even with steps down to the water's edge, the nice glide immediately upstream of the bridge on the car park/hut side for starters. Thanks for letting me fish it, was a lovely few hours. All fish returned, all in really good condition - no prizes for guessing what they had been eating! :)
