River very low and a really hot day but I managed to catch a few nice trout and a grayling. Traditional nymphing methods using a very long leader and a hot spot PTN were successful. No interest on any of my dropper offerings, spiders, or on various dry flies. An enjoyable day on this well maintained and attractive beat.

Arrived at river having seen off a field full of young bullocks… there was plenty of insect life with a lot of yellow may duns and sedges in the air, fish were rising sporadically. We had a few but 7 o’clock came and decision time … stay or go? Cloud cover had increased throughout the afternoon so we gambled and stayed …. To witness one of the most wonderful spinner falls seen on the Wye with mayflies, olives and yellow May duns dancing …. Sedges and stoneflies too. The fish were impressed too … we ended up with 24, a good mix of year classes for the trout , best one a stunning 17 incher. JB briefly contacted a shad … can’t wait till the grayling re-appear in numbers too. Saw a mink and otter… what a wonderful day, thank you Wye and Usk !

We both fished with Dry Fly and Emergers only. There were lots of very tricky rising fish but we got a lot more rises and fish on than the 8 we brought to hand. We had an excellent evening rise. Best fish 16''. Best flies- H/E Klink and Mayfly Klink.

Just a quick shimmy between the brook entrance into the Edw and the Bridge this afternoon.... been hectic with taking clients out on the reservoirs and rivers , so after some fitness this morning was nice to bimble off and park up at two by the bridge ..... Great fun as always here .......
She did seem a bit messy to be honest, a good winter haircut is in order I think here.... and I only fished to the bridge , finishing today at quarter past four ....
Tiny Para dries getting smashed... two goooooooood fish in the tally today well over twelve inches , lovely scrap on the six foot rod ...
Tis a beat you need to be careful on and wade carefully on that bedrock but the tout do love the plunge pools and a well presented dry is deadly here .... even in the slow deep glides they seem prepared to smash it !!! A lively couple of hours ... pretty hectic to be fair and great sport ... went sort of overcast for an hour but still hot .... I think about 21 degrees today.... river does need a splash of rain ... Thoroughly enjoyed the session .... off out with two clients again in a couple of days in the Elan Valley .... can't wait ....
Another fun afternoon on the Edw , sorted .... back to The Ponderosa dekit and a scoop at The Crown In town I think ..... just to round off a nice day !!!!
