Fished from 6pm until 8:30pm, dropping in to likely runs where the undergrowth allowed, which was helped as the grass has been cut along the margins for part of the beat. Plenty of fly life, but few fish rising. That said, I did catch 4 of the trout to the dry, with shadow mayfly or elk hair caddis dry as part of duo. All others caught on the gold head pheasant tail nymph. Slight tinge of colour and still quite low.

Mayfly weren't in abundance but sporadic this evening, I guess due to the intermittent drizzle or showers. Had a surprise from the better fish which hadn't given their position up and missed more than I hooked!
Finished the last cast with a 15 inch fatty. Fishing evenings is harder when you've been up since 3.30 for work!

Fished from 19.00 to 21.00 with a Last chance cripple Mayfly. Not much moving until the light faded around 8 then a few fish started rising. The Trout are not really going for the Mayfly yet mostly quietly sipping rather than big splashy rises. 5 Trout from 12 to 15 inches and a couple lost.

Had a really fun few hours at this picturesque beat . Must say it is getting a bit like going back and doing jungle training in places , to get to the water , and it's only the end of May !!!!!! Makes Belize look a walk in the park . . . . . . . Mid afternoon there was a steady stream of mayflies , and was interesting to watch , not only excited small trout have them , but as they took flight , the damsels would pounce on them, and settle down to a tasty meal !!!!! Rises were sporadic from twelve till half three , and throughout the beat , I managed three small brownies of about seven or eight inches , no grayling , mind you I believe it was about 25 degrees , so who can blame them . Abundance of life in the river as well , as I sat in my waders , in a nice stretch of coooooooool water !!!!! Very pleasing and amazing to watch the creepers , caddis and a whole host of invertebra skulking between the stones , keeping out of the way of bullheads !!!!! I had two of the fish on a home tied grey duster , and the last one , close to the bridge , on a mayfly pattern , splashy take , and a young fish . Beautiful markings though , was reluctant to have phone out mid water , in case of a clumsy accident !!!!!, look forward to another session , perhaps another beat of the Arrow . Think this will be hard work next month !!!!!!!!! Thouroghly enjoyable four hours , shall certainly be back , be a nice stretch for grayling in the colder months . . . . .

Fished from 9:30 until 12:30. Very few fish rising, even when a hatch of mayfly emerged. Lots of empty mayfly shucks, so possibly occupying fish below surface. Even though, I managed 5 grayling to the nymph below a bushy dry, 2 of which were a good size of about 1.5 lb. most trout were also decent size, taking nymph or dry. My first double hook up too, with 2 trout of about three quarters of a pound giving me a run around! Very overgrown and lots of climbing in and out required. Spooked a deer next to the river too about 10 yards away. I'm not sure which of us jumped the most!

A quick evening session hoping to see some Mayfly. Fished 19.00 to 21.00 and no Mayfly seen.
Plenty of BWO spinners and a few Sedge. Some rising fish but most caught prospecting the tails of the runs. 6 Trout to a small IOBO.
