2 anglers first time fishing a brook. No fish caught or even seen. I blame the novice anglers not the brook. Beautiful area although very overgrown and quite a bit of rubbish.

This was my first time on the beautiful Bideford Brook and I had four hours of fascinating fishing. The water was fairly clear and, I would judge at normal levels. There were a few Mayfly about but not very much surface activity.
A black Klinkhammer brought two small brownies but a change to an Adams Parachute yielded four in fairly quick succession. All six between 5-9 inches. All returned.
If you enter the river down the bank by the stile (ill half way up the beat watch out for the well camouflaged barbed wire in the bank that could trip you or rip your waders.

7 x trout 6-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. I had a few hours free on a warm cloudy morning. Prospecting with a small fly as nothing much hatching or rising, and a few fish came up. However, the odd mayfly was showing by the time I left at midday.

Fantastic fishing. 15 BT off the top with a size 18 olive sedge. The fishing more than made up for the pouring rain, thunder and lightning .... down for the weekend have just booked to fish the same stretch again tomorrow.
