The last day of the season where the river was still rising when we arrived at sunrise where it peaked at 4.28m's at midday. Tough fishing conditions where a 5 ounce lead wouldn't hold bottom in some of the swims. Lots of roving and fishing various swims with one Barbel between us which was around 6 or 7lb for mate Nic.

Fantastic fishing on both float and feeder. Fished feeder morning and later afternoon/evening. Picked up barbel and pellet. All toward the end of the beat. Float fished drying the day and at times a chub a cast and very decent size too. Caught on 6mm pellet. Also picked up 3-4 barbel on the float as well as a bonus. Great stretch of the Wye for sure.

Too say it was very windy and blowing a gale would be an understatement! The river was well up reading 1.93m at Ross even though I suspect the monitor was probably jammed with a huge tree! Very tough going for both with two average sized chub saving the blank. No sign of any barbel which was surprising considering the water temp actually rose by 1oc over the day so definitely wasn’t snowmelt! Looking forward to the summer when we can fish the Wye in more favourable conditions

Very much in flood, really strong wind etc so we tried for an hour or so and then left.
Also - track to the hut has changed from previous trips and now runs along the bank, it’s really narrow in places and in bad weather will be treacherous (like today).
