2nd visit we arrived at 8am and fished until 1530. We fished by the big Oak tree at the end.Fished single 20mm boilie against the far trees and had 6 common carp all low doubles biggest being 13lb. On way back to the van to leave the very first shallow pool had loads of carp in churning the clay everywhere.
The only lake on earth where you don't have to fish next to loads of people. U have entire lake to yourself , total bliss.

The river was in good nick after recent rains. Another very pleasant if not abundant day on this familiar beat. Brought a mate along who was looking to land his first ever barbel and I thought this would be a banker. He didn't bank his barbel but he did have a good day full of Chub and a very healthy looking Eel.
There were countless salmon leaps throughout the afternoon and not small fish, which was pleasing to witness. Also it was encouraging to find among the familiar rocky snags a number of retrieves brought in some healthy looking weed which has been noticeable by its absence on the Wye.

Hard fishing in the morning session with one fish caught.
Wind in the morning and after lunch warm and sunny ☀️ with another four fish caught. It was hard work. All fish caught on a Black Pennell.
Waders or wellingtons required as it’s very boggy around the lake .
Two of us ???? and we will return.

Very nice beat with good access. The water was very low when we fished but the chub were feeding and easy to catch, although average weight was less than a pound. Two barbel caught late afternoon on sweetcorn. other fish were 4 dace, one perch and an eel.
We had a bizarre incident during the day. One of our group reeled in his rod to help another of the group land a barbel, leaving it on the bank with the bait(artificial corn) still on the hook. When he returned after 10 minutes the rod had vanished. Unless it had been stolen by a group of passing kayakers, which seems unlikely, we can only surmise that the bait had been taken by a swan which had then dragged the rod into the water before breaking free. Moral of the story is I guess, never leave a rod unattended even if the bait is not in the water!
