Fished duo method in bright conditions, hooked 6, landed 3, probably rusty! Fish from head of shaded pool at bottom of beat and in deeper runs in open areas

Not fished the Ithon before, I was tempted by the ease of casting considering the time of year on the streams. Absolutely marvellous beat, so much water to fish and fortunately today there was 100% cloud cover which helped for such an open beat. 3x wbt 6 - 8 ins via duo , both nymph and dry. Switched to size 14 Griffiths gnat as I approached the first flat between the fallen trees... 16 1/2 ins of wbt took me all over the place ! Really wasn't expecting this , such a strong fighting fish superb sport. Held against the rod and then rod measured back at the car with a tape, expecting 14 ins, shocked as I counted it off. One of 11/12 ins followed and another of 8ins. Lost one more and missed quite a few other in the runs down the left then right banks. Great fishing everywhere so didn't even get half way up the beat, a return visit is a definite.

Arrived to bright sunshine and started with duo system. Caught a few fish on both so changed to dry. Caught grayling up to 7ins and wbt to 6ins. River in nice condition. Became overcast and the fish went down but a good day in nice surroundings.

Bumped into BP from Pembridge who had just finished fishing the lower end of the beat, so I tried from the bridge parking at the top end fishing downstream wets & nymphs. Had 6 small trout & 1 decent grayling about 1.5lb just before the 'No Fishing' section.

6 Trout, 1 Grayling, 1 Other

River level perfect after rain midweek showing around 0.25m on the gauge. Still carrying a nice bit of colour and a good flow I fished French leader with 2 weighted Nymphs.
Had 30+ Trout mainly about 6 inches with the best 2 around 12 inches. I had to finish around 2 so I only managed the first 2 fields up to the last house on the road. A few small up wings hatching as I left and 1 or 2 fish rising to them.

Water going with a good pace but terribly coloured up. fished duo tungsten with a 3mm gold beaded Baetis with a hint of orange at the thorax and a pink bead on dropper. I did not think the pink beaded flies would be out till December but with the water the way it was it was the only bead in my box that I could see 6 inches under the surface.. and most trout and both grayling took the pink beaded Baetis on dropper. this beat to me is a cracker , there are some decent fish within this beat. it,s just finding them!! . trout ranged from 6-14 inches and both grayling 10 inches. I hooked a few a fair bit bigger but once in the fast water all managed to slip hook.

Fished from 9-1.30.....water level the lowest I've seen on this beat and quite coloured. Sparse and varied hatches either side of an hour of heavy rain. A treat to see several Blue Damselflies, electric blue against the fresh green of the banks.All fish came to size 16 para Adams,Greenwells and Tupps, however it was only the juveniles that were rising and the biggest fish was a meagre 8". Searched with nymphs for the parents but to no avail.

Fished for about 2 hours in the late afternoon, a few fish rising, mainly small

Very little hatching and no rises. Had to stick to nymphs. Best trout at 14" and two of the Grayling were 17".
