My first time on this beat. A really hot and sunny day, so not the best day for fishing, especially to try somewhere new. River was very low.
I hooked a real beauty but didn't manage to net it...

This stretch is often overlooked and what ever the weather and river conditions it’s all ways served me well.
As the weather was warm and the river was gin clear i opted to fish the meadow swims where you find the faster shallow runs
Caught steadily through the evening and ended up with 5 Barbel .

Wading across river, SM had 75 Chub on meat and pellet, using float and feeder against far bank .
SG had 61 chub and 2 Barbel using the same tactics.
MH had 22 Chub wandering between pegs, best 6.2.
Low conditions and very hot .

The beat has been reduced in length removing the lower pool which I was planning on fishing in the evening. The expected hot weather swimmers took the bridge pools and several more swimmers wandering down the beat looking for their own pools were asked to return to the top pools. Fish were caught on tight line nymphs in the pocket water ranging between 10” - 17”. I would only fish here in cooler / wetter weather.

Again we block booked this beat for three anglers. The low water levels were still low and this time 95% of our catch was caught by one angler.
