Not been to this beat before and found Ashford Ho easily and parked. Tried to follow the directions to the river. Going 'through the small wooden gate' led to a path that rapidly became unpassable and impenetrable. Guessing a different route it took me around 30minutes walk to reach the river and on arriving found the banks were near vertical and around 3-4m high. Resulted in a further long walk along the river to find access to the water. Some signage would be really helpful and a better map sketch as the one issued is of such a small scale it's not much use.
Beautiful river section and enjoyed my time on it. The following day I parked on the road near the Talybont on Usk bridge which gave a shorter walk but still much longer than the 200m.

Another lovely day at the lake. A big hatch of small, dark, upwing flies at 3pm had the water boiling with rising and jumping trout. A big red sedge dry fly did the trick on a number of occasions. Mallard and Claret and Sedgeshog wet flies also productive.

Good day with enough interest from the fish although not exactly throwing themselves on the hook. Only fished the left bank swims with freelining and feeder tactics. Corn was probably the best bait on the day but also caught on pellet and meat. The other were eels.

Fishing was hard due to low water levels, fished two spots, majority came from faster shallower water, barbel in 5-6lb range and chub up to about 3.5lb, beautiful spot, quite a few roe deer in the fields above the river

Lost a fish at 5.15 am when the fish got tangled in a tree branch on Martins pool . Water got very dirty shortly after so I called it a day. I will definitely come back and fish again . Outstanding area.
