Cold and damp relative to recent weather. North wind and little obvious surface action except for a short period in the early afternoon. Small black flies worked best. Good place to be even in bad weather.--Track much improved.

Our first time at Wyebank. River was a bit lowish, looks like a good fly water. Notable difference with Middle Wye as this has bed rock which can trap bait feeders. Met the fishery owner who gave some useful guidance, many thanks. Tried Halibut pellets but not a touch, changed to luncheon meat and we were in. We only had a small tin so went to the local shop who helped out.
Barbel were very strong for their size, two chub were over 5lb. The take was very tentative, wait for the rod to bend and you had lost it. Hold the line and strike on a tremor and your were in. Lovely day, thanks to Fishery owner and W & U. Roger & Callum from Tring & Ludlow.

Despite heavy rain during the previous night and the day of fishing, the river remained low and fishable. There are some great pools on this beat but it cannot be accessed fully from one parking position, unless you are willing to walk a long way on a slippery boulder & large stone bed. At higher water, you would definitely have to come from the bank and access from different locations. We fished the bridge and the pools above, on the bend. There were a variety of different size and colour olives around but the fish took small dark emergers and dry flies. Despite the weather being cold and damp, the fish did continue to rise for several hours. We stayed at the Highside campsite, which is only a few miles from the beat and close to Middleton in Teesdale. Small friendly site, excellent facilities. We will be back to the campsite & the beat.
