Blank for one , 3 chub for another and 2 chub 2 barbel for me. Saw fish rolling just out in the river in the swim with the concrete ramp. Noticed it about lunchtime and witnessed it around 20 times. Too murky to identify whether it was barbel or salmon. No bites from them . Weather was pleasant and river running through nicely

The river was a bit above normal level but perfectly fishable, we fished in the top section in the rapids, fishing very slow as can be seen by the catch return
Method used fishmeal and pellet feeder with either a drilled 8mm pellet hair rigged or two fishmeal "flatz" superglued on a hair

This is a well looked after beat with plenty of swims to choose from. There were around half a dozen anglers on the opposite bank when we arrived. Many thanks to the bailiff who kindly had a word with two of them who were wading more than half way across the river and fishing in the water along the How Caple bank to remind them that they should not be doing this.
After they had been moved on we were able to fish these swims and these resulted in most of the fish caught on the day. Largest Barbel was 8lb.

A first visit to this beat. Low clear water, cool and some drizzle. The fishing was promising to start with, trout taking freely in the rocky glides and channels at the top of the beat but petered out a bit early afternoon. Trout were mainly 7”-10” with a couple of bigger fish caught in the tail of the Edw pool late on. A small hen salmon showed a few times at the top of the beat but she was very coloured and given the conditions, I wouldn’t have cast for her even if I wasn’t on a trout only ticket. The Stone catch fished well but there were quite a few chub around. Lady Alexander’s catch was a little disappointing in the low water conditions but I would definitely return with higher water to fish it for salmon.

Overall, a pleasant day on a very pretty beat but the takes today were lightning fast and I was too slow to convert all the offers that I had to a variety of patterns.

Fished with some friends in two sessions, catch return is for my fish only. Nasty and chill downstream breeze for much of the day seemed to keep the fish down. Very little steady surface activity. We returned later in the evening and still not much happening on the top. Took some fish searching the far bank with dries and nymphs which produced some fish. Very late in the evening, close to 9.30 onwards the wind dropped some of the time and there were a reasonable number of rising fish, although feeding wasn't sustained and difficult to target. Took a few on dries cast to rising fish in the last of the evening, close to in the dark.
