Started fishing at 10:30am. River in good condition and a few small up-wing flies over the water. Started with a Stimulator which took a nice trout from a fast bit of water. Around midday saw the first of a handful of Mayfly. Half way along beat noticed a good fish rise which I covered with the Stimulator, but no interest. Changed to a fan wing mayfly with success on the 4th cast only to loose the fish at the net. Estimate around 16" fish. The same happened a further up stream with another good fish. Last fish caught just below the weir. Off to Ireland next week so will try the beat again in early June.

Spent a few hours here today, another beautiful location. Fished down from the footbridge this morning, and up in the afternoon but the fish were not playing.

The river is blocked by tree debris downstream from the bridge.

Note to WUF admin - please can you amend the directions to note that parking should be directly under the yew tree - the very nice lady who rents the cottage says to park on the grass triangle as close to the tree trunk as possible so her access is completely clear.

This is a most beautiful stretch of water, just a little colour, with nice runs and pools . Still a bit cold but a great place.
Having watched Mr Whitehouse on the state of the rivers, last night, the first thing I saw on the river bank was some sanitary towels , but it does not detract from the place as a whole . No fish, tried bead head nymphs , didn't see a fish , didn't touch a fish , just good to be back on the water. If this is the standard of the wild streams when the weather improves it could be a great year as long as there are fish there . My only other observation is this is in the Lugg catchment area and certainly the Lugg always starts badly and comes good late in the season so I hope this is the same .

Very quiet fish wise. Only saw two rising trout and didn’t see anything moving in the pools or holding anywhere. Plenty of insect life and even the odd mayfly around, plus Dippers and a Kingfisher.. I only stayed for just over an hour. This is a really pretty beat but the water level is really low. There are some deep pools, but you almost need to fish them like a stillwater - a dry sits on top and doesn’t move. The shallower runs are mostly too shallow to hold fish. I’ll come back when we have had some rain

Love this beat. Arrived on a cloudy afternoon with occasional light rain. Fished for 1.5 hours from 2 until 3:30. Few rising fish with tricky but rewarding casts to fish under tree roots and branches. First fish was an absolutely donkey! 15 inches caught on a para adams dry sz16. Really great fight on a 7ft rod. Second was 8 inches on the same fly. Caught further up stream on the pool just before entering the wooded area. Great afternoon fishing and always amazed at the size of the fish on the arrow.

One very fine 14'' brown trout caught & released at very top of beat (near foot bridge). This was the deepest part of the beat, the rest was unfishable due to incredibly low water. I have fished here several times over past few years and have never known it to be so low as this before. Stayed at Radnorshire Arms, Presteigne. Perfectly decent and good value.

A rather odd day when I bowled up at the yew tree parking spot at the Titley beat of the Arrow . Blustery and very much almost Autumnal , with squally showers and debris on the river !!!! Anyway , tackled up at half eleven , and took a mooch over the foot bridge , always a lovely view looking upstream , ranunculus doing well in the low water ,and hopefully harbouring the odd brownie I thought !!!!

Slipped in fifty yards down from the bridge , and although saw the odd medium olive , didn’t see a mayfly during the five minutes there composing myself ….. opted for a parachute Greenwells , and actually stuck with the same fly the whole beat today ….. first fish was in the streamy water just before going under the bridge , usual stamp , about eight inches , great I thought looked like it was to be a sporting afternoon . Actually it was dam hard going with the squally wind , and the two other fish , eight and ten inches respectively , were from streamier water , both along that shady section just before the weir .

Always good fun to be on this beat , although mucky slimy stones now , and in places water isn’t looking fresh and vibrant !!!!! Three fish is always better than none , but almost seemed lifeless here today , very few rises , and just not the usual arrow spirit in the fish , possibly the water levels maybe . Even prospecting my dry in a lot of trouty places didn’t induce the usual splashy response ….. oh well , nowt so odd as trout sometimes !!!!!

Will leave the rivers a while I think , as some serious rain is most definitely needed , not only to raise the levels , but to aid in the rivers health . Shall head for the hills to some of the mountain llyns over the next couple of weeks , and one of my favourites , Claerwen reservoir . Still a lovely mooch in a superb quiet valley , happy days …………
