Our favourite beat but we struggled. River is low but looked good. Nothing but chub during the day and the barbel came in the last hour.

River level quite low but any day is a good day to be at the river. Three barbel in the 7-8lb range and 2 chub around 3lb. Overcast day with some showers. Lockdown is definitely over as the amount of canoes was annoying to say the least, they started at 7am. I am sure the fish are used to it (just anglers are not) and most canoe occupants are respectful however it baffles me why people feel the need to blast their radios in the beautiful scenery. Also some people decided to wade and swim down rather than use the kayak so it needs some mental adjustment to fully enjoy the fishing!!

A few weeks off 70 and the "Fownhope yomp" dosen't get any easier!!.Arrived to find the river was low but with overcast skies expectations were reasonable. Very slow through the day, just three Chub between us although one was a fine five pounder. The rest of the fish came in two bursts from 17:00hrs. to 21:30hrs. The Chub 3 to 5 lbs., the Barbel four in the 4 to 6 lbs. bracket and one beauty of 9lb. 13oz. , a new pb for the "Silver Fox". Chub to legered meat and trotted bread flake, all the Barbel and the 5lb. Chub to legered pellet.

We had a tough day on this beat as the banks were rather over grown and the water levels low. However we did manage to catch a few fish using pellet and feeder. We were especially pleased to see this baby Barbel, which was caught on a 12mm square piece of luncheon meat. Unfortunately luncheon meat also attracts Eels and we had two of those, yuk!
