Occasional rises during the day but not as much of a hatch as when we last fished a week or two back. At least 20people swimming, paddling or sunbathing near the corner but they left us alone so no problem our end. Fun. Both trout (returned) caught on dry fly (Taff’s emerged, pale spinner) fishing to rises

Fishing:Trout (River)

River conditions were excellent and gin clear. Didn't see many rises or hatches and fished dry dropper (Klinkhammer and PTN) or single dry fly to imitate small light brown flies on the water.
Craig Llyn is a wonderful beat on the upper Wye. Good parking facilities at the camp site and the river is very accessible and easy to fish. Some of the pools are very deep and in between it can be surprisingly deep as well. A wading staff is highly recommended.
We caught a couple of Grayling on dry fly Elk Hair Caddis size 16.

Normal feeder tactics. Would of been better if I’d stayed later, also if there wasn’t 2 family’s swimming where I was fishing.

Fished most of the day with black gnats, sedges & PTN’s. River quite low. Some fish moving but infrequently. Conditions were warm with sporadic cloud cover. Both small trout taken on dry black gnat. Although unexpected, I was delighted to catch a chub (a nice one of 3-4lb).. my first on a fly!
