Lovey long beat with lots of pools, glides, riffles and waterfalls. The only thing it is missing is fish! Lots of fly life and very clear water. Nothing seen apart from parr. Such a shame but I think this river has had too much catch and kill and otter/mink activity to be worth paying for again.

water was at a good and the temperature about 14c. the whole of the beat was in excellent condition with pathways and entry to pools strimmed. A few fish were seen but no takers except for 2 chub, a pleasure to be there.

Well what can I say it’s great to be back on a WUF beat again, this truly is a beautiful stretch. After what has been a real hard start to the season it’s nice to get a decent bend in the rod! Only had one shot at the Wye since June 16th and as most anglers will know, there’s been a lot of blanket weed drifting down making it extremely frustrating!

Only fished 5 hours in the middle of the day missing out on the crucial times to be fishing but very happy with the results. Very snaggy in places but no fish lost, the barbel were quite small by the Wye’s standards but I was not complaining, the chub was a klonker! Shame I only fished a fraction of the day, I know for sure there would’ve been more fish on the bank if I’d had more time. Usual feeder tactics. It’s so good to be back! Enjoy the rest of the season everyone!

2 Barbel, 1 Chub
