Good day out, weather very windy making it quite hard to cast the flies, trout were going for the blob once you found them.

River falling but still very high and pushing through hard. Found a couple of swims where there was a little less current. First produced nothing in two hours. First cast in second swim resulted in a good barbel bite. Fish hooked and played for about a minute then it found refuge in an obstruction on the bottom and that was that. No more bites in next hour and a half so packed up early. Disappointing end to what, for me, has been largely a less than successful season. Roll on June!

Level quite high, 2m on the Ross gauge and coloured. Struggled to find many places to fish due to the high banks. This is not a good stretch to fish in high water conditions due to the dangerous banks and lack of sheltered swims. Had one Chub in the morning and a single barbel in the afternoon. Fished for 8hrs for just 2 fish.

River was bank high but running almost clear, making wading dangerous as well as the water being cold. A few midges about and I saw two or three large dark olives as well as rising one fish close to the bank in slacker water. The only trout, at around 12" came to a tungsten beaded hairs ear on the end of a team of wet flys. Several other tugs and bumps to the wet flys but all in all a good day considering conditions and how little of the water could be accessed when it is that high. In a few weeks it should be amazing.

River was well up and coloured but managed to land three barbel and a chub, including a barbel on the last cast of the season. Cracking fishery although the drive up the hill in the wet was a little fraught

Well after a long session of night shifts , debating which of the Edw beats would be good today, initially plumbed for Cregrina , arriving at eleven , positively Spring like today , reading nine degrees in my truck when I parked up , and plenty of activity from bumble bees , dippers and the resident Kingfishers ,lovely to see !!

River still a tad heigh , and with the coppicing and tree kickers in situ , made fishing here difficult so cut my losses and bimbled back up the road to the Hundred House beat , which looked superb, one of my favourites . . . .

First fish was in the riffle just up from the bridge, lively littld feisty fish, about eight inches and quickly slipped back in , he took the Copper John , and with some gusto too !!!! Some upwings put in an appearance about one ish along with small sedges ,great too see . . .

Second fish , again hit the Copoer John hard , great little scrap on the six foot two weight rod , about nine inches slipped back in too colour up for Summer , was nice being away from the Loo Roll Apocalypse !!!!! Anyway , a really fun three hours down in the Edw Valley , peacefully, tranquil and dare I say it a touch of Spring !!! Back here soon , spot on !!!!

River still high and most swims unfishable. Had a Barbel after 45 mins and a Chub mid day. 2nd Chub came late on with all fish caught on pellet and feeder. Not an easy day but at least a sunny day to take in the surroundings and at least my season did not end with a blank. Stayed overnight at the Falconhouse B & B for the 1st time and can recommend highly added to which it is only a short drive from this beat.
