Arrived 07.00, caught fish from the start and during the rest of the day even in the sunshine. Packed up at 4.30 due to the early start to get here and need to get to the digs so probably missed the best of the day. All fish to pellets and boilies. A fishery that is well worth a visit but much weedier this year with lots of loose weed in the flow which didn’t make the fishing any easier.

Low cloud, mizzle, rain and bright sunshine. A low sluggish river - bites difficult to come by. One small barbel late afternoon during a lull in the onslaught of passing canoes. We have never seen so many! - in the main courteous and careful of our lines but sadly anti-social behaviour from the minority spoils the experience. The quiet spells though are glorious, we watched deer in the cornfield and were delighted when a Kingfisher alighted briefly on my daughters rod.

One barbel lost, and only three chub caught. Slow day but finally picked up in last 2 hours with plenty of knocks and fish showing. The banks are a little treacherous. The bailiff is a friendly and a pleasure to chat to.

We’ve both fished this area 3 times now, on this session the river was at it’s lowest yet and you could tell by the canoes bottoming out in several areas. Started off slow, trying to find the deeper pockets of water but the stretch soon started to produce! Brilliant session with 16 chub between us
