There were anglers fishing on the opposite bank in the area of the fishing hut. We decided therefore to head further downstream and take a look at the pegs in the woods.
These carried a little more pace than those upstream and we decided to settle there.
We fished from early afternoon until around 8pm and had bites steadily throughout this time. There are lots of Chub present and we each had around 25 of these in the 3lb to 5lb bracket. We also caught 8 good sized Barbel which were from around 6lb to 8lb+. All caught on pellet and feeder tactics.
A thoroughly enjoyable session.

5 x trout 7-10 inches, Duck's Dun and Rusty Klinkhammer. The stream is getting quite low now. For some reason this was one of the days when many lightly hooked fish come just off. There you go. Or rather there they went.

Purchased a OAP 6 trout ticket but unfortunately not a bite and packed up at midday. Three other anglers on the same side of the reservoir had the same result, a disappointing day!

Despite being low the water was very cloudy/milky for some reason, with nothing rising. Only a very limited amount of the beat is really accessible, so a disappointing evening.

Water running low with not much colour - sunny conditions. Catches from Middle Field Section, Access not really possible top end of stretch. Feeder and pellet worked best.

A mix of sun and cloud in the morning and full sun for most of the afternoon. Given the results of the previous day we had expectations of something similar on the barbel front but this didn't materialise with no barbel from the swim that had produced on the previous day. The 'other' was an eel.

Peaceful situation despite the generator running noisily next to the parking area. Not a problem though as we fished well away from it . River low and affected by brown algae bloom and quite hot and sunny which made fishing very hard. This has always been a good beat for me but I now see that the far bank attracting more anglers than normal. This could be because the landowner allows them to drive the whole stretch and park very close to their swims nearly all of which have been well prepared with steps and flat surfaces to park their seats on! I lost count of the number of such swims available . Unfortunately , this can seriously affect the choice of a swim for any considerate Whitehouse angler . The swim we both fished was superb and oozed barbel but opposite was a well used swim . We got in first but were rather anxious when we saw to our horror someone get out of their car and look at the swim ! Fortunately, he was considerate and moved on.
