A dozen or so (wasn't really counting) trout , all very pretty, ranging from very small to about 6oz. None of the smallest fish had parr marks so I assume they were mature fish.
Lots of fly life - various olives, some mayfly and swarms of iron blues. Also lots of recently emerged Beautiful Demoiselles in the bankside sedges.

20 typical 8-12 inch Bugeilyn trout, mostly to invictas and Greenwells just below the surface with a few to daddy long legs later in the day. Wish there was a boat, some big fish in the middle! Could we bring our own?!

Not a very good day at all on the worm. Lost one trout in the morning. Nothing after that because the water was too rough.

Two 6" trout and 1 Grayling below the bridge during the morning, one 12" trout and more grayling upstream during the afternoon. A few mayfly appearing but the fish were not switching on to them, one fish caught on a dry fly all the others to nymphs. Finished fishing a 15:00 so probably missed some late afternoon / evening hatches. (there were lots of hatches during the day but hardly any rising fish. I'm finding it impossible to avoid catching grayling on all Lugg beats this year, changing fly, technique and location doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't remember a previous year when, at this point in the season, they were so prolific. I also caught a couple of what i think were Salmon Parr.

I think I expected it to be a tough day today and I wasn't disappointed. Fishing on a Saturday and a holiday weekend meant one thing canoes, lots of canoes.. Luckily I got there early so had all morning canoe free but we had a large hatch between 1.30 and 3 making fishing pretty useless, mind you a needed a rest by then anyway. As for the fishing, water is low now, need a good flush through. I had a good tug and a swirl at the bottom of beat 3 first thing. There was a fish showing on beat 6, possibly a resident. I threw everything at to no avail. There are fish there, not many but they are there., catching them is another thing.... Ah well, I'm there again next week.... so even less water and more canoes no doubt….
