Nothing. No sign of a fish on both days fished, although plenty of fly life. Not sure why the price of this beat is higher than most. The stretch in front of the cottage looked good - but this cant not be fished while there are guests in the cottage - but there is no way of knowing...

had a couple of hours today, midday. all trout taking nymph in the faster water. trout switched on at 1 pm for an hour then it totally died. a huge amount of fly on the water , midge, olives, stonefly, sedge and also a few true mayfly but only one rise spotted. third time fishing here and am bewildered at the lack of rising fish. still a lovely stream to fish with a good flow .

A thoroughly enjoyable morning on the banks of the Usk at Abercynrig. This was also an opportunity to introduce my companion to fly fishing and although we had limited time on this occasion the experience was still well worth while.
Conditions weren't ideal with bright sunshine and lower water. Very few indications of rising fish, but we managed two small brownies were with a goldhead olive nymph, and the debutant of the party was suitably thrilled and no doubt hooked himself :)
Would return without hesitation simply for the outstanding eye-catching surroundings, never mind the thought of encountering more wonderful Usk trout.

Apart from the small bay below car park on that side is there any other bank fishing on the east side of the reservoir? A little more signage wouldn’t go amiss...

Another great day, the day started fine and still but an annoying downstream wind made things challenging in the afternoon.
A steady flow of fly life and active fish throughout the day. The biggest trout of the day was just over 2lb caught in very deep water.
