After the shenanigans and subsequent AA rescue on Monday, I manufactured an hour in the evening to tried some choice spots at the bottom of the beat. River 1ft 9" and passing the all important 'B%$£^$Ks' test. Came close to first of season when line pulled away on the inside of the gutter just below the iron gate. Felt the weight, but the fly came free in the first bout of head shaking. You work so hard for the chance!

Very bright and warm day with a little breeze, water clear so I saw little sign of the trout. Not much hatching and only saw a couple of splashy rises tight under the bankside foliage so I couldn't give them a go. Perservered with weighted PTN and landed 4 good condition 8/9" trout. Folks passing on the footpath were very pleasant and chatty, and the dog owners kept them out of the water when they saw me. A very nice day.

Beautiful sunny day with moderate Easterly wind. With water levels below 1 ft point on the Brecon marker we knew it was going to be a struggle and so it proved to be the case.

Spider and nymph fishing in some promising runs proved futile. Just a short pull and that was all. Just after 1 pm we saw the odd olive and some March Browns at the top of the beat. There were 3 or 4 fish that rose tentatively. We managed a small but fully finned brown and missed one more take.

We spent the afternoon below the flyover bridge observing some isolated gentle rises, the type you get when fish are feeding on midges. Couldn't see anything hatching. Tried a few casts and had two quick takes which were missed.

No more action, but a glorious day to be out and fantastic scenery!

Water low and clear, so had to pick my spots carefully. All but one of the fish were taken between the Bridges, fishing small March Brown nymphs. Best fish was caught at the tail of the pool below the canal bridge, on a size 18 PTN. All fish returned.
Another really enjoyable day on this terrific beat.

arrived to find river a bit high and dirty. Fished on and by dinner time it was clearing. I thought there was a chance of a fish but in the end nothing touched or seen. Another tuff long day for no reward. That's Salmon fishing

10C, a strong easterly and bright sunshine all day so not ideal conditions. 2 fine brownies from the top end bank later in the afternoon following a buzzer hatch. A glorious days fishing!

5 x trout 12-16 inches, Bastard Adams, March Brown Duck's Dun. A lunchtime session only, but an interesting one. A cold grey morning had given way to patches of sunshine. A few grannom around, but a trickle of large dark olives gave way to a couple of brief but intense March brown hatches. There may have been more but I had to leave at 2.30. Amazing number of fish moving. Missed a lot of fish today and I'm afraid to record that I broke off in a couple. Incidentally the management here tell me that no stocking has been done this spring and none is planned. What are being caught at the moment are either wild fish or grown on from stocking in previous years.
