Beat:The Breconshire Fishery

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

11 x trout 10-15 inches, spiders, Waterhen Bloa, Hare's Lug and Plover, Dark Moorgame. Three good fish, plus some juniors. A sunny morning with the river at a nice spring level, but starting to rain and the wind getting up later in the day. I didn't get to use the dry fly rod although there was a large dark olive hatch at about 2.30 - very few rises.

Arrived late (as I didn't start early), started fishing by 11 :30 am. Fished the swims on the bottom half of the beat, deeper water. 1st bite and Barbel (6lbs 7ozs) at 1pm. No further action until last hour when the Chub suddenly turned on and five were caught on maggot feeder. 2nd Barbel right on last knockings (6lbs 8ozs) set me up for the long drive home. Another lovely day on the wonderful River Wye

Great days fishing at White House. My favourite beat.
3 caught on hemp and caster the rest boilies and pellets.
We all caught from the top end of the fishery. River was up by about a foot with a good colour.
Temp was 7.6.
We all stayed at The Falcon House B&B How Caple which we can’t recommend enough.
