The river was still in flood and bank access was difficult. What pegs we could find were extremely slippery and muddy. Fishing the inside slacks produced some barbel and chub to float tactics either to maggot or meat. The farm track access was good to the indicated farthest point.

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

2 brown trout caught and returned, 1 rainbow caught and kept (spinners)
Hoped for a few perch or a pike but no luck. Are there any in this lake? Had better luck in pontsticill but still a successful afternoon.

River had dropped rapidly from the previous few days but was still over the croys. Able to fish with heavy feeders and pellets in beautiful Autumn and despite a brisk early morning frost several barbel plus chub put in an appearance. Lovely day.

Tough day at Thomas wood , very limited swims and the ones that are there quite steep and slippy .
Only 1 chub caught all day , more access to the river would make this a nice beat .

Very difficult today, the river still very very pacy, struggles to hold bottom apart from in th me slacks on the inside. Beautiul beat though. What a lovely place to sit and enjoy a day. Would fish here again as there is a lot of fish through here! We saw them rolling in the evening right out in the main flow where we couldn’t get them.

Beat:The Breconshire Fishery

Fishing:Trout (River)

River looked very fishable with some fly-life but very little, if anything, rising. Tried nymphs but with little luck. Accessed the beat from downstream by the sewerage works. Bank well trodden by dog walking locals. Access difficult in many places and room for much needed improvement. All signs pointing to an over-fished town beat but am I making excuses for a blank day? Met and chatted to two other visiting anglers also not having any success. Saw some fish fry, dippers, wagtails, kingfisher and tree creeper.
