Walk with a rod rather than serious fishing at current low water levels. Numerous small fish rising in pools and enough water to keep fish comfortable. This must be one of the most beautiful W & U beats available and probably one of the most unspoiled in Wales. Nil catch return.

I was fishing from 09-13:00, then from 16:00 till 20:00. I’ve caught 7 Graylings, hoked off two and also caught one tiny brown trout. It was really slippery and felt once- don’t go without felt sole boots. Water was so Clear and I used 3 pounds tippets and team of tiny PTN with hot spots ,and also olive quill body nymphs size 16-18. I couldn’t find the fly of the day. All of the fishes caught on different flies. I saw only one fish rising for the day.
The river is so beautiful and was a great experience for me.

This is a great beat, with plenty of variety, some swims do need the agility of a mountain goat. The majority of swims are accessible. All fish were caught on feeder and pellet.

Water was at a good height, dropping and clearing. Caught one salmon of about 8lb on a size 12 gold willie gunn fished on a full floating line with a sink tip. The fish wasn’t fresh but recovered well and swam away strong. Caught in the mill stream during bright sunshine at lunch time. Well worth the visit from Anglesey.

on the positive side I saw otters, dippers.egrets and kingfishers. there were trout feeding until the sun finally broke through at around 2pm. the fish beat me and that can happen. it has been around ten years since i fished this beat before it became a foundation water, and in that time it does not look as though any bank side work has been done. the access in and out of the river is very poor especially the lower end of the beat. this makes getting in and out of the water dangerous and damaging to waders as there are many brambles hidden in the undergrowth. this used to be such a lovely beat, but in its present condition i cannot recommend it and will not be returning. sorry for this negative observation but action is required.

3rd session on Craig Llyn, went further down river but still no success. Spoke to another angler who said I was wasting my time fishing this stretch and that the river fishes much better down by Sean Shepherd's hut. One further point, I did notice on my 3 visits there were no rising fish to cast to. Another point the angler that I spoke to made was that it is imperative that you use a French leader, although I'm not a professional or am I an amateur, I'm not quite sure what this type of leader is. I intend to use this method this evening.
