river very low and so clear. fished for two hours in early morning in first peg in wood nothing caught very weedy.
after having to repair puncher on car returning mid evening for a late session. after speaking to Peter the fishery manager he put me on a peg where barbel had been caught previously that week. with only three very small barbel to speak of then around 19:00 had a massive drop back which I struck into. at first thought somehow thought it was weed then it took off.an awesome barbel weighing 10 pound 4 ounces thank you Peter. Cant wait for rain get river right then shall deffo return to Thomas Wood

Last stint of a few days exploring the Lugg - thought I'd come back to the one beat I'd tried before, but sadly the fish were nowhere near as interested as last time! I managed to spot a few, but mostly as they shot off into cover. Fished 8.00-11.00am and would probably have stopped earlier had I not been saved from a blank by a lovely fish (12" or so) which grabbed a heavy nymph in fast water, under a tree stump. For which I was very grateful!

Started on the float for only a couple of small chub, had a walk and threw in a few pellets here and there and immediately barbel came onto them, fed a few swims and left them, returned and as usual as soon as a line went in they disappeared, you could see them come back but just couldn't find a way of catching them.

River very low. Fished the top half of best in the morning with one chub and a barbel first thing.
Moved down to a lower beach above the orchard car park to escape swans and geese. Had two good chub and a double figure barbel from under the trees on the opposite bank. Barbel fought really hard and swam off strongly after landing.
Fished lower down in the evening for a couple of hours to know avail. All fish on halibut pellets.
2 Barbel, 3 Chub

Fantastic days fishing in a lovely environment. Canoeists were a real pain but didn’t seem to bother the fish. Had to keep changing methods to keep the bites coming. Biggest barbel went 8lb 10oz. A lot of the barbel were in the 2 to 3lb which bodes well for the future. All in all a beautiful fishery.
