No fish caught, although trout were rising. Also some dead sheep lying around the place which wasn't ideal. A bad omen perhaps? Water levels too low, will be back again when the river conditions are more favourable.

Beautiful beat but conditions are awful. No water. Hot. Bright sunshine. Flotilla of kayaks. I had a four day trip to the Wye planned but have cut it short and travelled home lunchtime today as I don't think these are conditions to fish for barbel - it won't do the fish any good. But will be back to this beautiful beat.

Fished early and late as way too hot during day. River pitifully low and full of algae and blanketweed. Rain needed badly. Eels active making maggot fishing difficult. Just one barbel of 8.13 at dusk.
1 Barbel, 4 Other
