Just one 10 inch WBT from the upper section. Gorgeous hot sunny day, maybe not the best for fishing!

Second trip to Knill and the fishing was fantastic. Used duo and had 13 trout between 6"-9". Morning fish fell to the nymph, with mixed takes in the afternoon. It's a pleasant day to fish Knill as always; clean river and crystal clear water.

Blessed to fish Knill. The river is really clean, has a good flow and the water is crystal clear. There are a lot of tiny fresh water shrimps, hiding under rocks.
Started upstream of Knill Farm, fishing a duo. 3 trout took size 16 hare’s ear jig. One was an impressive 15 inches.
Then moved to the lower section. The flow here were much stronger with good depths. Carried on with the duo but alternating between different bead sizes to suit the flow. Took one trout and a crayfish!!
It was a blessing to fish the river this clean. The water quality reminded me of mountain streams in the French Pyrenees.

A dull, windy, cool day with intermittent rain. About right for the first trip out of the year!! At least I didn't blank. 2 small brownies from the same spot. Both to a PTN . Fished the lower section from 10:00 till 17:00. A word to the wise, only the first field is fishable as the second one has sheep fence topped with barbed wire .Same on the opposite bank.

Managed a short (2 hr) morning session and only fished a short section from the bridge. Water clarity is superb and a nice flow in the miniature pools. Brought 6 to hand....all chunky and beautifully marked. One in the klink and rest on a goldhead nymph. Bumped many others off!

Two anglers. Whilst we arrived in bright sunshine, the dark clouds amassing over the hills should have given us a clue. Before we got a fly in the water the heavens opened and the black sky above us was flashing with lightening and deafening us with thunder. It only lasted about 45 minutes but the damage was done. The water levels started to rise and the colour changed to resemble weak oxtail soup. Were we deterred? Hell no! A few hours later we had managed to winkle out a small brown trout each, both falling to nymphs, but that was it.

Well, we practised hard and we watched Youtube videos till our eyes ached. Then the two of us pooled the benefits of our joint research and we returned to the Hindwell, determined better our last performance. My objective, to catch a fish. My mate, to loose fewer. And we succeeded! 5 to hand for me (lost three) and 7 to hand (loosing only two) for my good friend, mentor and tutor. All told, a very enjoyable day.

First time at Knill. Somewhat cool and windy after rain the previous day and a prolonged hot spell. Plenty of water in the stream and it was surprisingly clear. Reasonable amount of insect life in the sunny periods, including some mayfly. My mate needs some practice - he hooked 13 but lost 5. He doesn't need as much as me however. Those with a maths degree will have already worked out that, with a total catch of 8, I blanked!

Another cracker of a beat, parked at the bridge just after six , river looked good, a tad low but to be expected I guess at the moment , looked like it was going to be another scorcher sun already trying to say hello !!!! Reading ten in my truck wen I got out to gear up . . . . .
Initially tackled up the usual six foot two weight rod , and single tungsten size twenty PTN , and success after an hour!!! Wondered were the fish were !!!
Was surprised when a chap at about I guess half nine Was on the side of the bank , when I was changing flies and was querying about my wild streams permit , and where was it displayed on the dash , I mentioned it's in the old tax disc holder , and glad I eventually met B.P from Pembridge , had a good chat about the streams etc etc and was advised to try on the straight section ,B.P was trying slightly further up . .
The fish did come on the feed , even with the bright sun ,the deep shady pools harboured some lovely brownies, nothing huge but feisty on the light rod ,having six in total, two good misses on the dry today ,and two missed to the net on the barbless hooks . . .
Overall a fun five hours , and six Hindwell residents to the net , ranging from six to ten inches , so a nice wind down and also nice to bump into a wild streams enthusiast that lives local, happy days ,back here soon . . . .
