Overcast day warming up as the day went on. Water clarity was good considering the heavy rain we have experienced the last week or so. Probably too good as suspect the fish saw me approaching. No rises seen all day so used wet fly technique with one trout taking a yellow and silver stoat's tail. Lovely peaceful spot, great to be back fishing.

A beautiful day in amazing countryside, however the fishing was tough! There was a small hatch of Olives and Mays late morning which did tempt the odd fish to the surface but overall little sign of fish.

Beautiful spring day in the valley, lots of wildlife and flowers in bloom. The river itself was at a good height, running strongly but crystal clear. A steady variety of flies hatching 11 to 3.30, but only saw a couple of rises in one pool - enough for me to try a dry, but they were not interested in the adams or olive varieties I offered. Did not rise for long either. No interest either in the nymphs, weighted or not, so a blank. The water was still very cold, so a week or two yet. Still a lovely day to be out and to practise the small sream casting!
