Water lower than I expected after the weekend rain and crystal clear. Fish were in the fast deeper runs. One on dry, 2 on nymphs.

This beat is very much 'pocket water' with only a few runs and pools however did manage to weedle out a fish and a few takes in surprisingly unlikely places. This must be one of the most isolated beats that WuF manage - ideal if you like solitude!

Sunny and calm day, river quite high and running fast but clear. Plenty of flies hatching but few rises, prospected with paras. Trout still wary so missed quite a few, landed 4, 1 at 7", 2 very nice ones at 11", and one beautifully marked and fighting fit at 14". Could only hold on with my 6 ft. rod at first! Great last trout of my season, roll on next year.....

Walk with a rod rather than serious fishing at current low water levels. Numerous small fish rising in pools and enough water to keep fish comfortable. This must be one of the most beautiful W & U beats available and probably one of the most unspoiled in Wales. Nil catch return.

Sunny all day, although quite shaded on this beat which is helpful given the crystal clear water. Many flies of all sorts hatching all day, but not many rising fish. Still persevered with small grey hued dries, landed 5 from 7 to 12" and missed a lot- mainly my fault as I saw the fish coming and tightened too soon. 4 that I landed (and 2 I missed) came from just one run - elsewhere it was one rise or nothing. No idea why!!

Caught one on para adams and one on klinkhammer. Missed 2 others (maybe I'm rusty from the winter). I probably could have caught more by nymphing but having just moved to the UK from US, and having fished nymphs all winter there, wanted to stay on top. Beautiful small stream with some nice runs and holes at this water level.

Foolishly thought I might get a day's fishing in but as I feared river is incredibly high and fast following bad weather, so no fishing possible
