Fishing:Trout (River)

Decided to give the Whittern beat a bash , thinking it would be pushing through at a fair old pace , and when I parked up by the bridge , the flow was pushing through pretty quick , with a bit of colour.
Tackled up with my six foot two weight , a team of two very small suggestive tungsten nymphs thinking they may get down a bit in the water . I did grapple down to the waterside , and watched the water for a while , no rises at all . . . . . And yet there were quite a few olives about , and also hawthorn flies , bumbling clumsily around !!!!
The bottom half of the beat seemed fairly quiet to be honest , and it was a while and a couple of pools later , before I had a good take on my tungsten nymph by a five inch brownie , cracking colouration fighting well above its weight !!!!
Two more followed in the next hundred yards or so , both about eight or nine inches , carefully wading upstream . By midday , the water seemed to be clearing just a tad . . . . . Takes seemed to be very tentative , and I missed a few in succession , just a slight nudge on the line !!!!
My fourth fish was my best of the day at about ten inches , again another beautifully marked brownie , took my tungsten nymph confidently . I'm sure the water fining down made the trout more eager to take .
This is a cracking beat , and some fabulous water , would have been better had I perhaps left it another day , no trout looking up yet on this stretch , come on guys time to get into training , it's mayfly time soon . . . . . . .
Shall give the Arrow another crack in perhaps a couple of weeks , and I'm sure as always it'll seem totally different then , something like Belize !!!! But hey these wild streams are always great fun , was happy with the four feisty little fighters , a fun four hours , spot on !!!!!!!

Spent a few hours basically just exploring a new beat (for me). The issue of the day was whether the river was (a) completely unfishable - being at 2 ft in height and about 1 ft visibility - or (b) just marginally fishable, a conceptual point which left me with about one percent hope as I dredged a fast-sink line through some shallower (I assume) runs. The issue was, however, resolved by an angler from a neighbouring beat who told me he had had a good pull, so it was option (b) after all. No fish actually seen, but they are evidently there.

No fish seen or touched as we fished the beat from top to bottom. Felt that to a fall of 8" or so would help the fly fishing considerably but water clarity and colour was good.
