Despite river being low, clear and cold and weather bright and sunny, the chub fed steadily all day. Lost 3 fish as well, mainly due to incompetence!

Very cold day on this beautiful river. Unfortunately no fish but scenery made up for it. Fished between 10am and 4pm.

River level had dropped slightly since I fished the beat 2 weeks ago. Unable to find a shoal of big grayling like last time, with the fish I took spread out along river. Four grayling best 18inches and 1 WBT.

A cold overcast day but thankfully very little wind to chill the bones. The river was at a normal winter height. We fished 3 swims in the lower field and tried our full portfolio of baits and methods but the chub and barbel were simply not there or not interested. But a deadbeat fished 5 feet from the edge under some fallen branches tempted a beautiful 12 lb pike to leave her lair. A second pull later on to the same tactic resulted in nothing more than a few choice words.
The easy vehicle access to the bank is a huge plus for this beat and with lower water and drier banks there will many swims to try out. But overall probably fewer features than most Wye beats.
Thanks WUF for all your work.

Hard going on a bright and breezy day . Thought perhaps the water had warmed enough for the fish to feed but only 2 brown trout were interested in the maggots . With the big freeze about to start that might be it for this season .

The river was down to around a metre on the Ross gauge and the weather was mild so I decided to give the fishing a try. After over three hours in two swims without a touch I caught a smallish chub late in the afternoon, followed by two more. Then on the last cast, as darkness fell, I had a barbel. Only around the 5lb mark, but a good end to a hard day. All the fish on halibut pellet.

2 x grayling 11 inches and 19 inches, leaded Red Tag and Tungsten Hare's Ear. River clear and still pretty high at 0.65, but I was able to drop into a couple of pools. No shoal of any size contacted and just a couple of fish found, but one was a real specimen. By lunchtime leaking waders forced an early retreat
