The river was on the rise all day! Both anglers managed to catch first cast and then sporadically throughout the day but the flow and weed got to us and had to fish in the slack because our feeders struggled to hold in the flow.the river must have risen 3 foot during our trip but still managed to catch in the margins on boillies and feeders.

River was pushing through fast with lots of debrie including a whole tree at one point, the top croy was submerged. I found a swim about halfway up that had some slack water & fished pellet & feeder tactics, fish came steadily throughout the day, biggest barbel 9lb, lots of weed catching on line made presentation difficult. This is a very peaceful & beautiful place to spend the day the autumn sunshine catching the trees on the valley sides was stunning. Walk back up the hill to the car with a heavy rucksack proved I'm not as fit as I thought. Thanks WUF for making it possible for me spend some time in such a lovley part of the world ????

River looked good on arrival very scenic level and colour spot on. Swims very limited, only found three one of which needs work to use safely the two we picked were ok but slippery and wet after rain the previous day. Soon after starting had first of five barbel and two chubb, I had three, most fish about 5-6lb range. N had best fish at 7-6, and as day went on river rose 2 feet with lots of leaves and weed making holding bottom for more than 5mins impossible. The beat obviously holds a good head of barbel but needs more safe swims to fish with steps cut to flat fishing area to get the best from the venue. I would return in summer but with no more than two anglers .

Very wet and windy but persevered. I lost the first two barbel to cut offs, then managed to bank two barbel. Which has made my day after having a wash off the last time I was here. Hard work but well worth it. I packed up at 4pm due to the amount of weed coming through.

Our first visit to this beat. We were unsure how far up the beat extends. Up past the wood?
AW decided that the gravel beach in the cattle field looked good for a wade and a spot of trotting, but cattle showed more interest than fish!
Despite flogging a number of swims in the bottom half of the beat from the orchard down we remained fishless, which was a real surprise and a disappointment as the beat seemed to promise much. It poured with rain most of the day, but river remained low and clear.

With the river level being steady around 0.5 and only showers forecast we took the gamble. Five of us arrived to find there had been far more rain overnight than had been forecast and the river was coloured and rising fast. Sadly we were not able to fish it but we had a welcome walk along most of the water in preparation for a return visit. Spoke with the owner who was most helpful and apologetic confirming it was a wash-off. It rose to over 1.5 on the Cilmery gauge just after lunch!
