Unfortunately the river had burst it's banks and was rising steady all day. Despite finding a few slacks no pike were to be had in the coffee-coloured water. Left at 2pm just before the river got to my car.

Fly fishing for pike - river very high and rising - difficult conditions very coloured water with large amounts of debris coming down the river. Looks like it could be a great beat though!

The river was still running a bit high but was clear and just about fishable although wading against the current was hard work. It was a good day despite an early finish due to wading boot failure! The biggest grayling took a pink shrimp and gave me a new pb. The net in the photo is 15" long. That fish and another bore signs of probable cormorant damage as can be seen in the photo. Other successful flies were a ptn and squirmy wormy ( sorry OB!).

4 Grayling, 1 Other
