River levels were ideal but unfortunately the colour was to heavy, lots of small fish topping in the slacker waters bigger fish were elusive

Feeder fished baits on a coloured and dropping river the working method.

3 Barbel, 4 Chub

River was up and coloured from heavy rain the night before. Slow going but picked up a few fish towards the end of the day as the colour started to drop out, all on trotting gear

4 Trout, 2 Grayling

Good day nice coloured warm water. Barbel feeding well to meat, six in total with a best of 9lb 10oz. Also chub to 4lb 12oz today.

Rising river and a warm spell woke the fish up, all to feeder fished various baits in gale force winds and rain!

The swims in the woods at Fownhope are a great spot to get out of the SW wind and rain. Took a while to get a bite but steady feeding of hemp and meat got me 4 hours of regular bites and a decent stamp of fish. Everything came to meat on the feeder, had 5 fish over 5lb ..and plenty of 3s and 4s. Played around with a few baits to try and tempt a barbel ..but had to make do with a chubfest....Great day's fishing

20 Chub

Fishing with grandson Henry, his first time on the Wye. On his second cast he caught his first ever chub weighing 4lbs 10oz, what a great start. In spite of the weather, we had a very enjoyable day finishing up with 5 chub and a grayling. His last chub caught was the best, weighing exactly 5lbs. Certainly a day to remember for us both.

Only two offers fishing between 11.30 and 3.00. Not really surprising given the low temperatures. One trout a nice fish of around 14”, the other 6-7””. Both came to nymphs. No sign of any grayling.

No fish today. Conditions seemed good however no bites. Very cold weather.

Just fished for an hour pm after a great lunch at the Corners Inn. Kingsland. At 81 years old I'm finding some beats very challenging for my limited mobility.

1 grayling about 1lb - should have been more! Lovely beat and friendly farmer.
